A new name for a uniquely Ivatan way of getting around. 
Through Provincial Ordinance No. 2026-511, enacted on August 3, 2026, Batanes officially recognizes “VAHAYCYCLE”, from vahay, the Ivatan term for house, and cycle, referring to the motorized tricycle used for local transport.
More than just a name, Vahaycycle celebrates our Ivatan identity, ingenuity, and culture, bringing the familiar image of our vernacular houses into our everyday public transportation.
Let’s proudly use, promote, and embrace the VAHAYCYCLE as another symbol of what makes Batanes uniquely ours.
